Neural probes, fellows, and the future of deep tech
A year spent turning five Schmidt Science Fellows' research programmes into ventures, from neural probes to landslide modelling, closing at Duke.
Last week I was at Duke University as part of the Schmidt Sciences Interdisciplinary Science Summit, for the closing day of the Idea to Application Lab.
Over the year, I've worked with five fantastic Fellows from Schmidt Science Fellows to turn research programmes into ventures, covering innovations in neural probes, landslide modelling, iron deficiency, tissue engineering, and detecting insulin.
Watching them pitch made one thing clear. Scientists make great entrepreneurs.
